PRU Youth League
The Potomac Rugby Union (PRU) is the USA Rugby administrative area for the Northern Virginia, Washington, DC, and Maryland area, plus parts of Pennsylvania. The PRU is part of the Mid-Atlantic regional governing body for Virginia, the PRU, and Eastern Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey. Finally, the Mid-Atlantic region is one of seven territories of USA Rugby, the others being the Northeast, Midwest, South, West, Southern California, and Pacific Coast.
The PRU Youth League administers youth rugby on behalf of the PRU for the Maryland and DC area. The PRUYL started with 4 teams in 1998 encompassing teams from DC, MD and VA. By 2006-07 the league had grown exponentially to dozens of teams playing in multiple age grade groupings. This growth has allowed the league to create additional geographic divisions and the Virginia programs are now split from DC and Maryland. Some of these clubs are sponsored by community youth sports organizations, by municipal parks and recreation departments and/or by senior rugby clubs. The PRUYL welcomes any new club.
